Windaroo climbs the hills south of Beenleigh and mixes older established homes with newer estate. Either way the ground slopes, and a sloping block is where a good concreter earns the difference. Driveways here need grip, proper falls and edges that hold the garden back.
A quick note on who we are. We do not pour concrete ourselves. We are a referral service, and we pass your job to experienced, insured local concreters who work across Windaroo and the surrounding streets.
Common concreting jobs in Windaroo
- Sloped concrete driveways, usually in exposed aggregate
- Replacing older driveways on established blocks
- Patio slabs, pool surrounds and stepped paths
- Shed and garage slabs
- Repairs to cracked driveways and failed edges
Grip, falls and access on the Beenleigh hills
Three things come up on nearly every job here. The truck often cannot reach the pour, so a pump is in the quote. The surface wants texture rather than a smooth trowelled finish, because a steep driveway with a slick surface is a problem in the wet. And the water has to be sent somewhere other than the garage door, which means the falls and any grated drain get designed rather than assumed.
How the process works
Tell us about the job and your suburb. We pass the details to a local concreter who services Windaroo, and they call you back with a quote. There is no fee for the referral.
If the driveway is steep enough that the grade worries you, say so. There are limits to what a car will clear and a concreter who has worked these streets will tell you honestly whether the grade can be improved or only managed.
What concreting costs in Windaroo
As a guide, plain concrete typically costs around $75 to $150 per square metre laid, with coloured and exposed aggregate finishes above that. Pump hire, extra formwork and the decorative finish most owners choose on a slope are the three reasons quotes here sit above the flat-block rate. See the cost guide for the full breakdown.
In Queensland, building work valued over $3,300 generally requires a QBCC licensed contractor, and whether a job needs a building approval depends on what it is and where it sits. Those rules are in the Building Regulation 2021, and Logan City Council and private building certifiers apply them. Ask the concreter to confirm licensing and approvals in the written quote before you sign.
Nearby, we also cover Bannockburn and Bahrs Scrub.
Frequently asked questions
What finish is best on a steep driveway?
A textured one. Exposed aggregate is the common choice because it grips in the wet. Honed and polished finishes look good but are the wrong answer on a steep run.
Can the grade of my driveway be changed?
Sometimes a little, with excavation at the top or build-up at the bottom, and sometimes not without significant earthworks. It is a site visit question.
Does a sloped driveway need thicker concrete?
Thickness comes from the loads and the site classification rather than the slope, but sloped jobs often need more reinforcement detail at the edges and a careful joint layout. Get it specified in the quote.
